3 Simple Ways to Change a Pet’s Life

As people who own pets — whether it’s a dog, cat, bird, or rabbit — we all have one amazing thing in common. WE LOVE ANIMALS and we want to change their lives by bringing them into our homes to be part of our families. Purr and simple…loving a pet is life changing.

But while they do so much to impact our lives, have you ever thought about all the things you can do to change your pet’s life?

The following are some obvious, and not-so-obvious ways you can change your pet’s life, today, and every other day thereafter. Enjoy.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a new pet parent looking to bring an animal home, or you’re a veteran pet owner looking to add someone new to the mix — adopting a new pet and bringing it home from a local animal shelter or rescue is the definition of life-changing.

According to the APSCA, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter animal shelters in the U.S every single year. While the bulk of this number is made of dogs (3.3 million) and cats (3.2 million), there’s still thousands of other small animals like hamsters, rabbits, chinchillas and pet birds that end up in shelters each year. All of which need a home. So, if you want to make a difference today – consider adopting an animal from a shelter near you.

Changing a pet’s life can be as simple as giving them an occasional reward for no reason at all. Sure, you always want to reward good behavior, but simply slipping your best bud some delicious treats, or making them their favorite meal, can go a long way.

Here are few simple ways to reward your pet and make their day:Treats – There’s no better way to keep your pet healthy, happy and motivated than with a delicious treat or snack in between meals.

Homemade Meal — Making a delicious meal you know your pet will love? Share the love – but make sure it’s safe for your pet first.

Toys — Add a little extra fun into their day and bring home a new toy from great pet-loving brands like KONG.

Subscription Box — Give them a monthly surprise packed with treats and fun – it’s literally the gift that keeps on giving.

There’s no better way to establish a connection with your pet than spending some QT together. Whether they are caged, on the leash, or hopping around the house — dedicating some time to your pet and nothing else builds trust and better companionship. Here’s a few ways to spend that quality time together:

  • Go for a walk
  • Go for a car ride
  • Cuddle up and watch a movie
  • Sit and talk
  • Belly rubs
  • Training
  • So much more!

*Time spent with your pet should be species-appropriate/safe.
